Dermal Filler Aftercare Advice
- Immediately after the treatment, you might notice some temporary redness, swelling and bruising at or around the injection site. This is common.
- These effects typically resolve within 2-3 days (although treatments to the lips may result in swelling lasting up to 7 days).
- A cool compresses or an ice packs (on for 20 minutes per hour) for 4-6 hours post injections can help reduce the redness and swelling and helps to minimize any bruising.
- The use of Arnica tablets or gel may be useful for bruising.
- If redness and swelling persist beyond 3 days, becomes worse or is accompanied by other symptoms, such as increased pain or fever, please you should contact us straight away.
- You should avoid exposing the treated area to intense heat (from the sun, steam rooms/saunas, tanning beds etc.) or manipulation (facials, massages, waxing, facial aesthetic treatments) for 2 weeks post-treatment.
- After dermal fillers, you must avoid lasers to the treatment area for 4 weeks.
- Sometimes, the injection areas can seem overly filled or "lop-sided" while swelling is present. We'll have a review with you 3-4 weeks post treatment or when all of the swelling has subsided, to make sure you're satisfied with your results.
- If you have had a previous outbreak of facial cold sores, the injection of dermal filler can lead to a recurrence. Cold sore history should be discussed prior to treatment and the use of anti-viral medication prior to injections may be helpful. New cold sore eruptions are also possible, even if you have not experienced an outbreak before. Please ley us know if any sores or lesions that occur in or around the treatment area, so that early intervention and treatment can be used to minimize discomfort and complications.
- Make sure you avoid taking aspirin, St John's Wort, high dose vitamin E and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID'S) medications such as Nurofen or ibuprofen, for one week following treatment. These medications may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
- Avoid exercise and alcohol for 24 hours post treatment.
Dermal Fillers
As we get older the initial signs of ageing become more visible on the surface of the skin. Fine lines appear first, and over time wrinkles, loss of volume and densit become noticeable, that full-faced youthful look gradually disappears.
This is the natural part of the ageing process where our skin produces less collagen (which provides skin firmness) therefore each year, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile. In addition to natural aging the environmental factors such as exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, smoking, alcohol, stress and lack of sleep also contribute to signs of aging.
The most commonly used dermal fillers are Hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in your body. In its treatment form it is a gel-like solution that is injected into the skin. When this gel-like solution is injected, it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues and brings water to the surface of the skin to keep it.
Dermal fillers are one of the most popular facial rejuvenation treatments. Teoxane is my product of choice that I use. It is highly effective anti-ageing treatment with instant results and virtually no down-time. Teoxane hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be used to enhance areas such as the folds and lines between the nose and mouth and to naturally augment the lips.
Reduce the depth of your smile lines (giving a more contoured look), the shadowing on your lower face that is caused by the deep lines, give your skin a more rejuvenated and re hydrated look (helping you to look years younger). Smile line fillers treatments are not permanent and typically last between 6-12 months.
Marionette Lines
Marionette lines (corner of the mouth) are long vertical wrinkles that traverse from the corners of the lips to the chin. These creases could give a grim or sad look to the face. These lines occur with age, smoking and genetics and can progress to form jowls later on. It is possible to lift these corners with dermal filler by adding volume and anchoring the corners higher up.
Redensity 1
Teosyal Redensity 1 is a new concept known as Skin Booster designed toprevent premature skin aging, restore skin density and maintain skin glow. It is an award-winning product which is composed of ingredients naturally found in the skin, a non cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid that includes a unique patented formula of effective natural components (Amino Acids, Antioxidants, Minerals and Vitamins that hydrates and repairs the skin.
Redensity 1 skin booster is used to improve several characteristics of our skin that are negatively impacted by age:- Sun-Damaged Skin
- Loss of Skin Elasticity
- Thin, Damaged Skin
- Luninosity
- Wrinkles
- Sagging Skin and Imperfections
- Hydration
Treatment areas
- Face
- Neck
- Décolletage
- Hands
A topical numbing cream is applied to the area.
A session will consist of injections to inject the Redensity 1 spread throughout the surface area.
The entire treatment normally spans over 3 appointments, which should be spaced approximately 2-3 weeks apart. Additionally, there will be a maintenance treatment once or twice per year, to help you maintain your glowing complexion.
The application of Redensity 1 may cause small bumps to appear at the sites of injection. These usually settle within 24-48 hours and are harmless. Otherwise, tenderness after the treatment is often very minimal and does not prevent you from carrying on with the rest of your day. There is no down time to expect.
The effects are already visible after the first treatment. A series of three treatments at intervals of 3 weeks guarantees the spectacular results, such as restoring radiance, firming and illuminating the skin.
